Outdoor Ceremonies - Statement of Terms and Conditions
In certain circumstances, civil ceremonies can now take place outside. Please note that this change only applies the outdoor areas of venues which already hold a licence to conduct marriages and civil partnerships. The gov.uk web site gives more details.
If you have a ceremony booked at one of our venues, please contact the venue directly to discuss what options may be possible.
Outdoor ceremonies can take place in Buckinghamshire between the 1st March and 31st October.
Please do remember, the weather does have its part to play on the day. It is a legal requirement that the marriage or civil partnership schedule (and all other legal paperwork) must be protected from the elements and kept safe and secure at all times. Your ceremony may not be able to take place in the outside structure if it is raining, there are high winds, or due to very cold or very hot temperatures).
Therefore, arrangements would also need to be made to hold the ceremony indoors as a contingency plan. Couples are required to plan with their venue to ensure a licensed room inside the venue is available at the same time. The room should be able to accommodate the number of guests attending your ceremony including the two Registrars and the bride and groom.
You should also note that drones are not permitted during the ceremony.
The decision on where the ceremony will be held will be made by the Registrars. This decision is final.
Couples are required to complete the Outdoor Ceremony Form at least two months prior to the ceremony. By completing this form couples are agreeing to the statement below:
"We agree that the decision on where the ceremony will take place is the Registrar’s responsibility and that their decision is final. We agree that if our ceremony cannot take place outside for any reason we will be happy to proceed in the named room."
