The Government launched a Law Commission review on 29 June 2019. A final report with recommendations was published in July 2022 and the Government has launched a consultation on these recommendations which ends on 24th September 2026. At present there is NO CHANGE to the current marriage ceremonies in England and Wales and no further information available from the Registration Service.
